His Church at Work Interviews Henry Blackaby
Gods Presence and Power in Our Work Lives - The Church is the Key
Have you ever wondered why God insists on using the church to accomplish His purposes? Well, His Church at Work recently worked with Dr. Henry Blackaby, pastor and best-selling author of Experiencing God to empower a church with a WorkLife Ministry in Montgomery AL, Frazer United Methodist. During this process, Doug Spada, founder of HCAW interviewed Dr. Blackaby about Gods movement in the workplace and the need for the church to intentionally equip, affirm and commission their members. You can hear Dr. Blackaby yourself click here to watch a 2-minute video* of Dr. Blackaby answering the question of the strategic God-ordained role of the church in the kingdom of God.
Below is the transcript of the video clip of Doug Spada and Dr. Henry Blackaby:
Doug: His Church at Work was birthed to empower local churches to do what God has called them to do, specifically in this area of encouraging, affirming and equipping believers in their workplace callings. What would you encourage pastors to do in this area of workplace when a lot of their congregation might be dissatisfied or disconnected from the church in this area of work?
Dr. Blackaby: The people who go out into the workplace are the church. The pastor needs to read his congregation and know his congregation from one end to the other. And see where they are spiritually, see where they are physically. Then ask God, How do I organize the church to help equip them to function where God has put them in the marketplace? Most of their time is not spent in the church house. It is spent in the world. And so Jesus said Father I dont pray that you take them out of the world, I pray that you keep them in the world and keep them from the evil one. As a pastor I want to help them to know how in the world God does that. And then He said, Sanctify them, set them apart for yourself, and as you sent me into the world, I also send them into the world. So I look at that as a pastor and said, then I need to do what Jesus was praying. I need to take the word of God and see them being set apart by the word of God to be exclusively be used of God. But God didnt take them out of the world, but put them into the world like Jesus did, to transform the world.
